Christmas is closer than ever now, even domo has his Christmas tree and hat out, lol.

As for 2009 lets try our best with our new years resolutions and doing something different than the year before!

a little solidarity

What an awesome night of Northern Irish music :-) I got to see some of these bands for the first time at this event and o-boy I was far from disappointed.
I can honestly say I've been aspired again musically so definitely a good time to keep writing and moving forward.

Here's a link to each of the bands I had the pleasure of seeing -

elbow

Seen these guys on Jools Holland the other night, wither it was a re-run or not i can't remember, but good grief these guys are class!

Although they have a new single out, "The Bones of You" my favourite track for now is "One Day Like This".

I would agree with every other musician in the country that the music industry is big and now quite saturated, but these guys prove that you can still create songs with great hooks and great all round music talent.

Check out the myspace and give them a good look over :)

GBOB, Dublin

No album this week but after GBOB in Belfast being a bit of fun and outlook on local bands for me, I thought Id make an effort and support Red Like Crimson on their triumphant chance at getting though and winning more opportunity and some serious cash.

Unfortunately they didn't make it through, they played incredibly and put on a great show. I'm still flabbergasted that such a good band has come out of Lurgan.

Keep up the good work guys and keep pushing, I think you're gonna break though sometime.. sometime soon :-)

Fury

Muse have released a free live video of their B-Side to the 'Sing For Absolution' single on their website, anything from Muse is always top notch but free is the icing on the cake!

The performance is awesome and the ol' recording quality is great!

Emer O'Neill - 1982

Emer O'Neill is a singer/song writer from Belfast I had the great pleasure of meeting in the past week. The EP is six tracks long and is the introduction to what Emer would like to achieve. With a strong voice and soft guitar playing it all really just hits home for me.
Emer has recently played the Bob Dylan Acoustic Festival, and is bold enough to busk the streets of Belfast for Cancer Research.

The EP is available on iTunes and HMV Digital

Keep up the good work Miss O'Neill :-)

the motherload has arrived!

HO HA! They're big, blue, raspberry, explode when ya open them and boy do they pack a fair punch of caffine. My small shipment of Jolt came this morning and I couldn't be happier :)

If anybody is thinking of trying some, check out americansoda.co.uk, it's not only drinks with these guys though, you can even order the good ol' lucky charms this country's been deprived of for the past decade.

Angel Chambers - New Mecca

These guys are calling this little number their 'demo' but from listening through it non-stop for the past year or more, it's more of a full album or a super long EP. As far as local bands go for myself these guys are at the top of the list somewhere. I'm still in disbelif the quality of the recording with screams, three part vocal harmonies, strings/violins and the good ol' fashioned electric drill technique thrown in for some badass solo parts!

This demo is only on sale from the guys themselves so jump on their myspace or bebo and see when and where they're playing.

Ozzmium, might also be worth a look in, let's just say Angel Chambers drummer (Dessie) is a very talented man.

Escape Fails - Love, Blood, Family, You

These boys have blown me away at live shows, the first time being their Kerrang Tour, after party in Lavery's Bunker. Now they finally have an album to go along side their intense performances and boy does it deliver! They've worked very hard and its showing loud and clear, especially with some of the recent tour dates they've landed with Enter Shikari.

They have a nice review of the album over at Belfast Metal Heads Reunited

Here's the ol' myspace link, buy their album on iTunes or Amazon, they deserve the support!
